Forget the gym—Torquay was the place to be this weekend for some serious “arm-mageddon!” The Saskatchewan Arm Wrestling Provincials rolled into town, proving that our province has some of the strongest biceps in the business.
Despite the messy weather, about 60 competitors (that’s 120 arms, for those counting!) descended on the Torquay Community Centre. From seasoned national pros to a surprising number of kids getting into the sport, the energy was electric. There’s something uniquely Saskatchewan about “hating” your opponent at the table and then immediately grabbing a snack from the canteen together once the match is over.
Whether they were “leveling up” or getting strapped in for intense stalemates, these athletes showed incredible grit. Next stop? Nationals in Moncton this June! It’s awesome to see a sport that’s all about technique and local community spirit gaining so much momentum. If you haven’t seen a high-stakes “pull” yet, you’re missing out!
