The first case of bird flu has been found in Saskatchewan.
The ministry of Agriculture says a snow goose found near Elrose has been confirmed as positive for avian flu.
The last time bird flu was found in Saskatchewan in either commercial poultry or wild birds was in 2007.
The agriculture minister says protecting commercial flocks includes measures like keeping wild birds away from poultry flocks and their food and water supply, limiting visitors and monitoring bird health.
Small flocks are considered high risk as they usually have access to outdoor pens.
Small flock owners are encouraged to confine their birds indoors during the high risk period of wild bird migration.
