Regina-based Protein Industries Canada is taking steps to modernize the Canadian regulatory system around plant-based food products.
Protein Industries CEO Bill Greuel has announced a 1.5 million dollar project with Pulse Canada and Loblaws to improve the regulations around plant-based food ingredients.
Greuel says the project will provide data to Health Canada to support regulatory changes for labelling.
He hopes there can be regulatory changes in the next 12 to 18 months.
