Temperatures in the low to mid 30’s are more common in the latter half of June than the beginning of it, but you can expect to see that over the next few days.
Environment Canada says a ridge of high pressure from the west coast is moving in, bringing in temperatures in the low to mid 30’s with overnight lows in the mid to high teens for the next few days.
As a result, Heat Warnings have been issued for central and southern Saskatchewan, including Regina, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
Environment Canada’s Terri Lang says while this weather can produce some thunderstorm activity, it is a little early to see that happen, especially because there isn’t enough moisture that can be absorbed into the atmosphere.
“We haven’t seen the crops starting to come up and give that moisture. We see a tremendous amount of moisture from the crops as they grow called evapotransporation which fuels more thunderstorms.” Lang said. “We aren’t seeing that yet, but as the ridge breaks down later on in the week we might.”
Temperatures will get back into the low to mid 20’s on Sunday, which is normal for this time of year.
