Man charged with murder in death of Margo woman

A report of a serious injury to Wadena RCMP late Christmas Eve in the village of Margo led to the discovery of a 51-year-old woman who had been killed.

Police were called to a report of an assault in Margo at 11:20 p.m. Christmas Eve and found a woman and an infant. The woman was described as having serious injuries and the toddler’s injuries were described as non-life threatening.

Police went to an adjacent residence and discovered the body of 51-year-old Sharon Littlewolfe from Margo.

RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation and found an adult man who was known to the victims injured them and then stole a vehicle from a nearby residence. Investigation determined he was in a relationship with Littlewolfe.

RCMP in Tisdale received a report at 1:10 a.m. Christmas Day of a man who approached a rural residence and asked for assistance for a stuck vehicle. He then assaulted the occupant of the residence, giving the victim serious but non life threatening injuries.

The victim was able to restrain the suspect long enough until police arrived.

Brian McLeod, 56, is charged with second degree murder in the death of Littlewolfe, attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and once count of possession of property obtained by crime.

McLeod appeared in Melfort provincial court today.
