An altercation at a residence at Hatchet Lake First Nation has led to a man being charged with the murder of his son.

Officers were called to the residence at about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday after a report of an altercation on the Hatchet Lake First Nation.

When police arrived, they found a victim who was later declared deceased by EMS. The man’s name is Donald Mercredi, 28 from Hatchet Lake First Nation.

Donald Mercredi, Sr., 56 of Hatchet Lake First Nation, is charged with manslaughter.

He is scheduled to appear in La Ronge Provincial Court Friday.
