A local man and woman have been arrested after police received reports of a suspicious vehicle and two suspects were found with drugs, a shotgun, and ammunition.
The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Thursday.
When police responded, they approached the vehicle and saw two suspects sleeping in the front seats. Police also noticed there was a shotgun and ammunition sitting openly in the car.
Additional police units were called and a high-risk traffic stop was performed.
Officers called out to the suspects in the vehicle informing them that police were present and they were under arrest.
When the driver awoke, the vehicle fled the police.
The vehicle’s tires were blown using a spike belt that the police deployed.
The vehicle continued to drive toward Quance Street and onto Truesdale Drive. After several minutes, the vehicle crossed back over Victoria Avenue into the Glencarin neighborhood.
Police then observed the vehicle lose control and crash into the fence of a residence on Cole Crescent.
The driver of the vehicle then fled on foot but police were able to arrest the passenger, a 25-year-old woman.
Patrol officers and the K-9 unit pursued the running male suspect.
Police units set up a perimeter while the foot chase continued. The man was seen running across Ring Road and through a number of residential yards near Rothwell Fields Park.
A K-9 team located the man hiding in a shed on Rothwell Crescent. The Police Service Dog did not make any contact but the man was arrested.
