Protein Industries Canada launches 30 million dollar fund for plant-based food expansion

Regina-based Protein Industries Canada has set up a 30 million dollar fund to support expansion of the plant-based food business.

The chief technology officer for Protein Industries Canada, Meghan Gervais, says the fund will support the use of artificial intelligence to expand the use of food options from field peas.

The use of artificial intelligence for pulse crops range from food formulation and recipe development to food safety analysis and quality assurance.

The first round of project applications is open from now to October 26th, with a second round of intakes opening in early 2023.
