Another Day of Heat; Potential Records

It was hot yesterday, and today could be record setting.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is calling for a high of 36 degrees today in Regina. That’s almost 15 degrees warmer than average for this time of year.

If we hit that high, it would beat a record for heat on September 1st , which was 35 degrees. That goes back to 1929.

Some records fell yesterday. Swift Current hit 35 degrees, eclipsing the old record for August 31st of 31 degrees.

We will get a break from the high heat tomorrow, but its back into the 30’s for the long weekend.

Meanwhile, the City of Regina is out with some tips to beat the heat.

First, the city’s splash pads and outdoor pools. The pools are open until September 5th. City busses can be a good refuge form the heat, and you are encouraged to flag one down if you are not feeling well.

City fire halls also offer cold water to people out front.
