Riders and Mariano issue apologies to REDBLACKS Masoli

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and Garret Mariano have apologized to Ottawa REDBLACKS Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli.

The apologies were made via the Saskatchewan Roughrider’s Twitter.

Mariano said that he will not be appealing his suspension and wanted to apologize personally to Masoli for his actions.

“Regarding the comments I made during the game, I regret that I said them, as I now understand their consequences. This was not my intent when speaking on the field, nor is it ever my intent in my day-to-day life,” Mariano said. “Now I play the game with an edge, and during the game, I made an incentive and culturally stereotypically remark. I now understand this was hurtful to my peers, and I hope I can be forgiven for that misunderstanding.”

The Saskatchewan Roughriders also apologized to Masoli, saying that the comments and actions of Mariano on July 8th do not represent who the Roughriders are as an organization or the work we do in the Saskatchewan community.

The Roughriders said they would donate to the REDBLACKS Mentorship Program in Jeremiah Masoli’s name.
