– Storied History Friday will mark the 75th in history Saskatchewan will meet Ottawa on the gridiron. 53 of the matchups were Roughriders vs Rough Riders, eight times Ottawa was known as the Renegades and since 2014, Saskatchewan has faced the Redblacks 13 times.

Advantage Ottawa. Since 2014, the Redblacks lead the head to head matchup, 7-6

Pick Six Nick. Last Saturday, the Riders Nick Marshall returned an interception for 90 yards for a touchdown, his fifth of his career. His rate for touchdowns is #1 on the all-time list in CFL history (among players with more than 10+ INTs) at 38.5% of his career 13 interceptions. Marshall is also #1 all time in the CFL with averaging a “Pick 6” every 9.6 games

Lots of Heat in Sask. Sacks have been a plenty in the Riderville on both sides of the ball. Saskatchewan leads the CFL in sacks with 21, while the offensive line have allowed 14 over the last three weeks.

Sack Royalty. The Riders are on pace to end the season with 95, the all-time mark was set by Calgary in 1986 with 85. Saskatchewan’s record was set in 1988 with 73.

Sack King. Pete Robertson is the league leader with sacks at seven.

Making a Stand. The Riders defence is #2 in the CFL in allowing yards with 286 this year. Last week the green and white defence allowed 277 last week.

14 or Jackpot. It’s been a tale of two seasons for Jamal Morrow over games. The CFL leading rusher has a pair of 100+ yard rushing games, while in the other two contests, Morrow was held to 14 yards in both games.

All time 50 for Powell. It could be a big night for former Rider William Powell. The Redblack running back needs 56 yards rushing to move into the top 50 rushers of all-time in the CFL.

Deep Misfire Cody Fajardo has struggled with the deep ball recently. In the first two games attempted passes for over 20 yards, Fajardo was 8 for 14 for 2 TDs. Over the last two weeks, the Riders QB is 1 for 8 with 1 INT and 0 TDs.

Catching Up. Along with being winless in 2022, the Redblacks have yet to hold a lead at the end of a quarter in any of the three games this season.

Long Distance Kicking. Brett Lauther  57 yard field goal last Saturday matched a career long set in 2019. Lauther’s field goal is also the longest in 2022.

Top of the YAC. Kian Schaffer-Baker leads CFL in YAC (Yards after catch) with 122 so far this season.

Don’t forget to tune into the 5th Quarter Post Game Show with Michael Ball and Luc Mullinder.

Following that, it’s the SportsCage Radio Round Table
