Pride Parade Makes a Return to the Queen City

This Saturday will mark the return of the Queen City Pride Parade!

The parade is the signature event for pride celebrations in the city, and over the course of time has been growing and has become the city’s most colorful and vibrant parade.

The first parade in Regina celebrating ally ship, inclusion and freedom of expression for the gender and sexually diverse communities was held in 1990.

2014 marked the first time that a sitting mayor of the city attended the parade, with then mayor Michael Fougere marching in the big event.

Lisa Phillipson with QC Pride says that this year the parade is back and bigger than ever – which is a welcome change after a few years of the pandemic side lining pride celebrations.

“We are very pleased that this year we can gather “Together Again”. This year we are lucky enough to be able to host an in-person parade for the first time since 2019. This year has come with its own challenges as we navigate through the end of this pandemic. We wish to keep everyone as safe as possible so that we can all celebrate with Peace of Mind,” says Phillipson.

The parade is scheduled to depart from the downtown area of the city at noon on Saturday – moving south down Albert Street starting at Victoria Avenue, and finishing in Wascana park near the provincial legislature.

OUT in the Park will be taking place near the end of the parade route in Wascana park, marking it’s return this year as well.

This year’s OUT in the Park will feature two stages with live performances, the Pride Marketplace, food trucks, children’s activities, and beer gardens.

OUT in the Park’s entertainment stage will be graced by Filipino-Canadian musician, songwriter and visual artist Kimmortal, South African-Canadian singer-songwriter Zaki Ibrahim, and a special surprise performance from Canada Drag Race Superstar Stephanie Prince!

OUT in the park will run until 11PM Saturday.
