Pats Defenceman Ryker Evans signs with NHL contract with the Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have announced today they will be signing 20 year old Pats’ defenseman Ryker Evans to a three year contract.

During the 2021 NHL Draft Evans was picked in the second round by Seattle.

This season with the Pats was a banner one for Evans as he took home his third straight Charles Johnston Memorial Trophy, for top defenseman of the season.

Evans is now in the ranks of the top Pats defenseman of the century and 13th in Pats franchise history.

Ryker will see action with the Kraken’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, for the AHL’s Calder Cup Playoffs.

“It will be really fun to practice with the team and hopefully to get some game action,” Evans added. “The AHL is obviously faster and everybody knows their job. It’s simpler in that teammates are in the right place at the right time.”

In his inaugural season with the Pats Evans scored 11 points in 45 games.
