Humanity has had a huge impact on the environment over the last several decades – this is something that the Royal Saskatchewan Museum is exploring in a brand new exhibit.
HOME: LIFE IN THE ANTHROPOCENE is a exploration of the affect humans have had on the Earth. The new exhibit will debut during a celebration this Thursday night.
Featured will be the renowned host of Discovery Channel’s Daily planet Jay Ingram and Canadian Poet Laureate Louise Bernice Halfe.
Craig Perrault the executive director of the friends of the RSM says the new exhibit is world class.
“Scotty came into the CN T-Rex gallery in 2019. That was a transformation, a world class specimen in a world class exhibit. This new exhibit Home – follows that same idea, layering on to the beautiful Value that is here at the RSM.”
The project has been in development for a number of years – and will feature interactive technologies – as well as several artistic collaborations.
“The Friends of the RSM are always looking for innovative ways to partner with the community – both Regina Business “Sticks and Doodles” and graffiti artist Wiz Won, helped bring an art piece that you can pick up at the gallery supporting the friends and those two businesses.”
On the night of the Gala – drinks, appetizers and a unique program will be part of the evening. Discovery Channels Jay Ingram will be pulling the curtain back showcasing wildlife and the impact that humanity has had on the planet, alongside Poet Laureate Louise Bernice Halfe, who will be showcasing how the Anthropocene has inspired her.
The exhibit will open to the general public April 22nd.
