Province recognizes green shirt day

Today  is recognized as Green Shirt Day.

The day is used to promote organ and tissue donation awareness throughout the month.

Humboldt Broncos player Logan Boulet made it aware to family that he wished to donate his organs. When Boulet died in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in 2018, his organs save or improve the lives of six people.

Boulet donated his heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and corneas.

Nearly 18,000 Saskatchewan residents have registered online for the donor list. Anyone 16 or older can register as an organ donor online in Saskatchewan by going to givelifesask.ca

The TC Douglas Building in Regina will be one of the buildings across Canada lit with green light to remember those who have died waiting for organ and tissue donation.
