The number of laboratory confirmed cases last week is up over 1,000 for the first time in several weeks, according to information in this week’s provincial COVID report.
There were 1,196 new cases, which is about 34 per cent higher than the previous week. Also, there are 324 people in hospital with COVID, up from 305 last week, including 21 in ICU which is a rise from 19 in the previous week.
The number of tests were similar to last week, so test positivity is back up to around 12.3 per cent. There were 20 newly-reported COVID deaths in the previous week, which is lower than the 33 reported in the previous week.

There was one person between the ages of 40 to 59, three between the ages of 60 to 69, seven between the ages of 70 and 79, and nine people 80 or older.

Of this week’s newly reported deaths, 16 occurred within the week. The other four (4) deaths occurred in previous weeks (February 21 to March 19, 2022), but were reported this week.

As of March 26, of the population five years and older, 85.7 per cent received at least one dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine and 80.6 per cent completed a series. Among the population 18 years and older, 51.3 per cent had received at least one booster vaccination.
