Regina council looking at possible regulation of cosmetic use of pesticides

The City of Regina is exploring regulating and possibly banning the cosmetic use of pesticides.

Ten delegations presented to city council on Wednesday, all in favour of regulating pesticides in the city.

Ward 1 Councillor Cherly Stadnichuck brought forward the motion and said she had heard a lot from residents.

“So I’ve had someone who used to work for the cancer society, organic gardeners, and just a number of people who are really quite concerned about the fact that we still are using pesticides without any kind of regulation at all.”

The motion is tabled, and in four weeks’ time, city administration will come back with an idea of how much time and money it would cost them to act.
