11 people injured in ‘disturbance’ at Regina jail

Wednesday night, an incident at the Regina Correctional Centre left eight staff members and three inmates injured.

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety confirmed the ‘isolated incident’ involved inmates on one unit at the Correctional Centre.

The Ministry said that corrections staff responded to a ‘disturbance’ and brought the situation under control.

All 11 people who were injured sustained non-life-threatening injuries that required medical attention.

“As this incident relates to the safety and security of a provincial correctional facility, we are unable to provide any additional details,” said the Ministry.

RCMP will be investigating the incident.
