The NDP announces leadership convention for June

We are a few months away from finding out who will lead the provincial arm of the NDP. The party announcing today that their leadership conference will take place in June.

The rules for trying to grab the top seat are simple.

  • Candidates must be a member in good standing with the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party.
  • Candidates must provide signatures from no less than 100 Saskatchewan NDP members in  20 constituencies.
  • Candidates must receive the approval from the party to seek leadership.
  • Provide a non refundable fee of $4000.00

More information is expected to be provided as they race for the seat gets underway and the date of the conference gets closer.

While no clear front runner has emerged –  Trent Wotherspoon and Nicole Sauer have both placed their support behind MLA, Opposition Caucus Chair and the critic for Education, Early Learning, childcare and labor Carla Beck.

Speculated runners Betty Nippi-Albright, and Trent Wotherspoon have all announced they will not be seeking the seat vacated by Ryan Meili.
