International reaction to the Russian invasion of the Ukraine is coming swiftly – with promises to crush Poutin’s economic power.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Ukrainian President Zelensky before he addressed the nation today – showing solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
“Russia’s actions stand in direct opposition to the democratic principles that generations of Canadians have fought to protect. Democracies, and democratic leaders everywhere, must come together to defend these principles and stand firmly against authoritarianism.”
The Prime Minister and G7 partners are increasing pressure on Vladmir Poutin, a scheduled meeting of the G7 leaders is slated to take place tomorrow.
New sanctions will target 58 individuals and entities including members of the Russian elite and the Wagner group, major Russian banks and others. Canada will cease all export permits and cancel existing permits. The goal is to limit Poutin’s ability to continue this invasion.
