The province removing proof of vaccination to enter businesses has left some feeling uncomfortable with going out.

The Bushwakker Brewpub is looking to accommodate everyone, as they have opened a room specifically for people who are immunocompromised, have family health concerns, or simply just aren’t comfortable dining out.

Grant Frew, the bar manager of the Bushwakker Brewpub, said that they want everyone to enjoy themselves when they are dining out.

“It was based on the fact that a number of our customers are a bit older and more conservative, and they were telling us that we won’t be seeing them for a while because, with the drop in the proof of vaccination mandates, they simply were not going to feel very safe and that they wanted to just stay home for a week or two, and monitor the situation and see how things play out.”

Frew said that the pandemic has been tough, and they didn’t want to lose customers.

“We’ve been open for 31 years, so a lot of these customers are almost extended family, so we wanted to try and do something to make them feel comfortable without alienating anybody else,” he said. “Our General Manager had the idea that we could perhaps use our side banquet room which has not really seen much activity as of late.”

He said that the ‘Arizona Room’ will be available to those who aren’t comfortable, and customers choosing to sit in this room will be required to provide Proof of Vaccination and ID.

Frew said that the Facebook post making the announcement blew up, with over 300 comments left, most of them being positive.

He said that vaccinated and unvaccinated people are welcome into the Brewpub.

“We are not picking sides, and we were just trying to do something nice for some of our customers that were just feeling uneasy with the situation.”
