Sask farmer honored for environmental farming practices

A Saskatchewan farmer has been honored for his environmental farming methods.

Moosomin area farmer Kristjan Hebert was the lone Canadian picked as a Climate Positive leader by Corteva Agriscience.

Hebert is honored to be chosen for the award

Hebert says his farming methods include intensive soil sampling every four acres.

Other practices include variable rate fertilizer use and precision equipment to avoid overlapping of fieldwork.

He says other farming methods include rotational and fall cropping to lengthen the vegetation days to absorb carbon dioxide.

Hebert is the managing partner of Hebert Grain Ventures, a 30 thousand acre grain farm near Moosomin in southeast Saskatchewan.
