Sask economic recovery continues with manufacturing sales growth

The Saskatchewan government says the provincial economic recovery continues with strong growth in the manufacturing sector over the past year.

Manufacturing sales increased 53 percent between October 2020 and October 2021, the highest among all the provinces.

Trade minister Jeremy Harrison says the province continues to be a leader in key sectors including energy, mining, agriculture, forestry, manufacturing and more.

Chemical manufacturing sales rose 100 percent in the one year time period, with wood product manufacturing up 42 percent, food manufacturing up 41 percent and machinery manufacturing up 36 percent.

The new statsCan figures show Saskatchewan manufacturing sales rose 6 percent in the month from September to October, the second best in Canada.

In total, Saskatchewan manufacturing sales in October were worth 1.8 billion dollars.
