Sask Water Security Agency offers water drainage workshops for farmers

The Water Security Agency is offering free online workshops for farmers to plan water drainage projects in a changing climate.

The workshops, called AgH2Onward, will introduce farmers to the Agricultural Water Management program in Saskatchewan, the process and benefits of drainage approvals, and techniques to best manage water on their land.

The free workshops are being offered until April 2022 and include two half-day sessions.

The agency says farming is the backbone of the provincial economy and managing water is an important economic tool for producers.

As well, there is an added challenge of adapting to a changing climate.

The Water Security Agency says there are important opportunities to help producers plan farm drainage projects that are adapted to weather extremes, like flood and drought, while increasing productivity.
