The Canadian Grain Commission has launched a consultation period to give farmers more time to settle a grain grading dispute with grain companies.

In a dispute, farmers can ask for official grain commission grading but must do so at time of delivery.

Now, Remi Gosselin with the the commission is suggesting a seven-day time period.

Gosselin says the change reflects that many farmers now contract their grain delivery through commercial trucking.

The Grain Commission consultation period continues to the end of February.

Possible implementation could be the start of the new crop year, August first.
