Frost Regina logo represents unity and community

Frost Regina was announced on Thursday, as the City of Regina’s newest winter festival.

The ten-day event, which will start on February 4, will feature many events for residents and tourists to take in.

With everyone set to come together to enjoy the event, the festival’s logo also echos that.

“The meaning behind my artwork is about its unity for indigenous people. It’s a mixture of Metis, Inuit, Haida, Salish. All the bright colours represent every indigenous nation,” said artist Brandy Jones. “It’s amazing to be able to do this because what better way to represent unity and community than through a festival.”

Jones said that she appreciated the help of the Regina Winter Festival Committee in helping her with the logo.

“I was a little nervous when I first started just because it was something kind of new to me. Really they gave me a lot of the ideas to work with,” she said. “It’s really amazing to have other people’s ideas to work with. A lot of it was there, and I just tried to create the vision that they gave me.”

“We all come from extremely unique walks of life. There is so much history in Canada that to me; it just seemed important because no one indigenous person has the same story,” she added.

The festival will be featured at four main hubs, including Evraz Place, the Wascana Centre, Downtown Regina, and the Warehouse District.
