Grain shipments to Vancouver disrupted by heavy rain

Exporters of grain, potash and other commodities are concerned about how long it will take to reopen the main rail-lines in BC.

Pulse Canada President Greg Cherewyk says there have been several mudslides and washouts affecting both CN Rail and CP Rail.

He adds repairs will be challenging and neither railway is estimating when service will resume.

The washouts and mudslides were caused by up to 200 millimeters of rain in areas east of Vancouver early this week.
