Lengthy delays on Highway 1 west of Regina as storm brings traffic to a stand still

White Butte RCMP are advising people that Highway 1 is closed between Regina and Moose Jaw.

Crews are on the scene of a collision and traffic backup in the eastbound lanes, about ten kilometres east of Pense.

Both lanes of travel are blocked and traffic is backed up for kilometres.

Police are reminding motorists to only travel if absolutely necessary as blizzard conditions continues for the Regina and Moose Jaw area.

“If you are in one of the vehicles waiting for the road to open, do not leave your vehicle. Conserve your cell phone battery. If snow is piling up around vehicles, ensure the vehicle ahead of you has their exhaust pipe clear. If you require emergency assistance, call 911. Thank you for your patience while emergency responders work to open the roadway,” RCMP said in a release.
