A second ultra-low cost carrier and fifth airline in total will be joining Regina’s International Airport next year.
Swoop, will offer non stop service twice a week from Regina to Edmonton, starting June 16, 2022.
Justin Reves with YQR, said Regina to Edmonton has always been a flight high in demand.
“Yeah, generally speaking Regina to Edmonton is pretty popular, as well Swoop is headquartered out of Edmonton, that is kind of their home base, so this is the first place they’re connecting a number of new routes,” Reves said.

“With an ultra-low cost carrier, typically if you need to bring a bag you’re going to pay extra for that,” Reves said. “If you want snacks or food on the plane that’s going to be additional as well, basically after your seat everything else is layered on top of that,” he said.
Reves also said as the pandemic recovery continues, YQR is currently operating at about 40 percent of pre pandemic levels, adding they’re excited to add sun destinations once again in December, which will be eight flights a week to six destinations from Sunwing, with WestJet also expecting to add a few destinations as well.
