No one injured after accidental firearm discharge by Regina Police officer

The accidental discharge of a Regina Police firearm is under investigation.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning inside of a police vehicle that was stopped on the 1400 block of Park Street. The shot was directed to the roof of the vehicle and was not in relation to an investigation or call for service.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

While details remain sparse, and while this is a rare incident, Regina Police say the discharge has been reported to the Saskatchewan Police Commission and is subject to a full investigation and also subject to a review by the RPS Use of Force review committee.
