Moose Jaw woman facing several charges after several impaired hit and run incidents in downtown Regina

A 29-year-old Moose Jaw woman is facing several charges after several hit and run incidents in downtown Regina on Friday morning.

Police were first called to the corner of 12th Avenue and Rose Street at 7:30 that morning where a Chrysler 200 collided with a waste disposal truck from behind. The driver was asleep behind the wheel, but once she was woken up by police on the scene, she backed into the police cruiser that was behind her and fled the scene. The suspect then collided with another parked vehicle on the 1800 block of Smith Street before hitting another police vehicle attempting to stop the suspect before again fleeing the scene.

The vehicle then came to a stop after a spike belt was deployed on the 2100 block of Retallack Street. The suspect was then taken into custody.

No one was injured in the incident.

29-year-old Ashley Sugar faces nine total charges:

  • Impaired operation of a conveyance by alcohol, drugs or a combination
  • Exceed .08
  • Hit and Run (X5)
  • Evading police (X2)

Sugar was released with a court date set for Nov. 17.
