Moose Jaw woman facing a number of charges after Friday morning incident in downtown Regina

A 29-year-old woman from Moose Jaw has had several charges issued against her after an incident in the downtown area Friday morning.

Police say they were sent to Rose and 12th around 7:30 a.m after getting a report of a vehicle rear-ending a waste disposal truck at a red light.  Officers were not able to wake the driver of the vehicle by banging on the window so they were forced to break a back window. Once she was alert, she wound not get out of the vehicle or turn it off.  Instead, she allegedly tried to drive forward before putting the vehicle in reverse where she struck both a city-owned truck and police car before fleeing.

Police then say they received a call about the same vehicle striking a parked car on the 1800 block of Smith.  When police arrived there with the lights on, the driver allegedly put the vehicle into reverse striking the cruiser with the officer inside before fleeing.

The incident finally ended on the 2100 block of Retallack Street where the driver was taken into custody.

Ashley Sugar is facing a charge of impaired driving, two charges of evading police and five charges of hit and run.  She will answer to those charges in a Regina courtroom November 21.
