City of Regina launches feasibility study on potential new indoor pool and aquatics centre

The City of Regina is conducting a feasibility study that explores building a potential new indoor pool facility.

The current location of Lawson Aquatics Centre has been deemed the best location for a new facility, the City says the study will consider if and how the existing facility fits into future plans.

“We are excited to begin this work and explore how we can better serve the competitive and recreation needs of our community,” said Mayor Sandra Masters in a release. “A new pool is a strategic investment in supporting a healthy, dynamic, and inclusive community where all residents have access to a better quality of life.”

The City will be including residents in community groups in this study, starting with an online survey accessible by 40,000 randomly selected households in Regina.

Later in the year a online survey will be made available to everyone who wants to share their input.

A new indoor aquatics facility has been prioritized in the City’s Recreational Master Plan

Lawson Aquatics Centre was constructed for the 1975 Western Canada Summer Games.
