A Court of Queen’s Bench justice has said no to an application for an injunction against the proof of vaccination policy that takes effect in Saskatchewan Friday morning at 12:01 a.m.
In a written decision, Justice Mona Dovell described the application, brought forward by Mark Friesen who ran as a Peoples Party of Canada candidate in Saskatoon in the recent federal election as “fundamentally defective” and “fatally flawed.”
The judge awarded costs to the provincial government and Crowns. The $5,000 is to be paid within the next 60 days.
In a statement, Justice Minister Gord Wyant says “The proof of vaccine requirements being put into place to address the pandemic are in line with provincial and federal legislation, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Our government will continue to defend these measures, in court if necessary, to ensure the continued health and safety of the people of Saskatchewan.”
