Sask. sees 19 temperature records fall Tuesday as autumn heat sweeps across prairies

A total of 19 temperature records were broken in Saskatchewan on Tuesday, as autumn heat swept across the prairies.

Yellow Grass, about 88 kilometres southeast of Regina, was the hot spot in all of Canada, climbing to a sizzling 34.1 C degrees.

Meteorologist Kyle McAulay, said Regina and Moose Jaw easily broke records.

“Yeah Regina reached a high of 33.3 C breaking a record of 32.2 C set back in 1898, and Moose Jaw climbed to 33.1 C breaking a record set back in 1967 of 30.6 C,” McAulay said.

Normal daytime highs for much of southern Saskatchewan this time of year are between 15 C and 19 C degrees.

McAulay added while not as hot as Tuesday, above seasonal temperatures can be expected for the rest of the week.
