Ignite Adult Learning Corporation officially open doors to new facility

The old Conexus Credit Union building on Victoria Avenue and Wallace Street is now the new home for Ignite Adult Learning Corporation.

Executive Director Dellice Saxby says their new home opens up more possibilities. “Ignite has been operating for 30 years in a fairly small space, we only had one classroom learning space, so we were limited in terms of how many students we could support.”

With the increased space, Saxby noted there are more services available to their students. “The new building has allowed us to have three different levels of education here to help our students no matter where they are at. They can work towards their GED at two different speeds depending what works for them.”

Along with the education advantages, the new facility will also provide Ignite students an increased amount of safety. “They can start to build a more stable and positive community around themselves so they really enjoy coming into the building, they have somewhere safe to work, we have COVID distancing and policies in place.”

Ignite was awarded the building from Conexus as apart of city wide contest, Saxby added that Conexus has been a long time supporter of Ignite for many years.
