It appears the City of Regina’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for City owned facilities will be delayed by two months.
Originally set to take effect September 20, a City Council report now says the target date is November 15.
The City’s reasoning is, “to procure and implement the needed devices to ensure a positive experience for the public when accessing City facilities”.
When the City’s plan was originally announced they mentioned the provincial government’s plan to debut a new proof of vaccination system involving a smartphone ready QR code the same week they were going to implement their vaccination policy.
Proof of vaccination from City employees has also been delayed.
More details are expected to be released after Wednesday’s City Council meeting.
