The Saskatchewan government announced two more timber allocation projects Friday.

There is approval of timber allocations for proposed expansion at the Dunkley Lumber sawmill in Carrot River.

The $100 million mill expansion will increase lumber production by 75 percent and is expected to create 240 new jobs.

The majority of timber will be secured through commercial agreements with Indigenous timber allocation holders and private landowners.

Dunkley is privately owned with three sawmills in Western Canada.

The province has also approved timber allocation for increased lumber production at the Carrier Forest Products sawmill in Big River.

The allocation follows a several million dollar upgrade to the Big River sawmill.

Carrier is a privately owned Canadian forestry company, with a sawmill in B.C. and one in Saskatchewan.

The Big River mill is the largest of 3 sawmills in Saskatchewan.
