A 65-year-old woman from the Wadena area is dead after a collision on Highway #5 east of the community that took place Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 4:00 PM, Wadena RCMP responded to a report of a westbound semi colliding with an eastbound truck. The vehicles came to rest in opposite ditches.

The lone occupant of the truck — the 65-year-old woman from the Wadena area — pronounced dead at the scene, while the 61-year-old man from the United States driving the semi was treated for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and no charges have been laid at this time. The highway was closed during the investigation, but has since re-opened.
