Provincial NDP react to latest COVID-19 measures

The Provincial Opposition was quick to react to the Premiers press conference on Friday.

NDP Leader Ryan Meili spoke today at the Provincial Legislature and said that once again Scott Moe did not take enough action in the fight against COVID-19. Meili believes that the Premier should be listening to the advice of medical health officers like Dr. Saqib Shahab on indoor masking. “Dr. Shahab, our Chief Health Medical Officer, gave the advice that we should have indoor masking mandates and vaccine mandates. Scott Moe, once again ignored Dr. Shahab and see it over and over again the daylight between them. Dr. Shahab says what needs to be done, but Scott Moe does not want to do the work.”

The Premier said in his press conference that issuing a mask mandate would be considered a stop gap measure. Meili believes that response is not good enough. “What he is really saying , when he is saying those restrictions, the public health orders, are stop gap measures, he’s saying he’s given up, that he doesn’t want to try anymore, he’s tired of COVID, hell, we’re all tired of COVID, nobody wants that anymore but you don’t get past it by giving up and throwing up your hands and doing nothing and that’s what Scott wants to do.”

Meili advises for those who are continued to be agitated by the lack of action from Moe to continue agitate. “I’m going to quote our Chief Medical Officer Susan Shaw, agitate, don’t take this lying down, your premier has let you down, he’s refused to act and protect you, stand up and insist that this change now.”
