First degree murder charges laid in connection to James Smith First Nation shooting

Charges have been laid in a fatal shooting incident over the weekend on a northern Saskatchewan First Nation.

RCMP responded to the incident on Sunday on the James Smith First Nation where two people had died and one person was seriously injured in a shooting incident.

On Monday, police arrested 33-year-old Shawn Moostoos, who is believed to be the suspect in the incident.

He is charged with two counts of first degree murder, one count of attempted murder, and one count of discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Moostoos will appear in court  Wednesday morning.
