Lumsden’s Last Mountain Distillery celebrates 10th anniversary

In September of 2011, Saskatchewan’s first micro distillery opened in Lumsden.

Since then, Last Mountain Distillery has won over a dozen awards at the Canadian Whisky Awards and has hired 17 employees in the Lumsden area.

Co-founder Meredith Schmidt says they’ll continue making great whisky.

“We’re continuing to work on new products all the time,” said Schmidt. “That’s the fun in this business is creating new and exciting things, creating new tasty drinks.”

Schmidt says it’s hard to believe how far they’ve come in the last decade.

To celebrate, they are holding tours of their 8,500 square foot facility, and offering discounted tastings of their latest products, as well as some classics. The event will be held until 5:00 pm
