Regina Police say they have arrested and charged a 49-year-old high school teacher and charged him with sexual offences including sexual exploitation.

In a news release, police say the charges come after an investigation into what was described as social media communication of a sexual nature with a female youth.

Police add they became aware of what was described as an inappropriate relationship/communiation between the two on Thursday with an immediate investigation beginning which resulted in statements being gathered and making sure the girl, whose age was not released, was safe.

Jeffrey G. Dumba is charged with luring, sexual exploitation and making sexually explicit material available to a child.

He was released on an undertaking with numerous court conditions and will be in court for the first time October 21.

Police add the investigation is ongoing.
