Chinook School Division requiring masks when school resumes

With the new school year just about on us, many school divisions are releasing their back-to-school plan with the Chinook School Division that operates schools in Swift Current and communities in southwestern Saskatchewan being the latest.

In a letter sent to staff and families, director of education Mark Benesh says masks are being recommended for all PreK-12 students and staff when in the classroom, but they will be required on buses, hallways, washrooms, and common spaces when other classes are present.  All visitors must also have a mask before entering school buildings.

The letter adds many school activities will resume including extracurricular activities and that where possible, physical distancing will be maintained and large gatherings will be avoided.

The letter also states the division will continually be monitoring the COVID-19 situation and adjust mask requirements and other guidelines based on the direction of public health.
