Canadian military leaves Afghanistan after evacuating more than 3,000 people

Canada’s acting chief of defense staff says the county’s mission in Kabul has ended, and nearly all of Canadian personnel have left Kabul’s airport

Canada evacuated an estimated 3,700 people from Afghanistan, which fell to the Taliban’s resurgence earlier in August, after U.S. troops were pulled out of the country by President Joe Biden.

The mission ended due to Kabul’s airport being under the threat of attack.

Reports have also surface Thursday morning of an explosion near Kabul’s airport, just hours after the last Canadian flight departed.
