Man charged after alleged assault of Regina City Hall employee

A 41-year-old Regina man is facing weapons charges, after allegedly assaulting a City Hall employee, and attempting to stab a man on the 2000 block of Osler Street on Monday.

The suspect first approached a 63-year-old man with a knife on Osler Street shortly after 3:00 p.m., the victim was able to move out of the way to avoid being injured.

While he was calling Police, he saw the suspect head towards City Hall.

City Hall employees say the suspect was asked to leave the building but did not comply, which was when the alleged assault of an employee took place.

Officers later arrested the man on the 1800 block of Halifax Street without further incident.

As a result 41-year-old Mark Blanco, has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Blanco made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Police did not say if the City Hall employee was injured or not.
