Canada to implement vaccine passports this fall

Canada is moving forward with proof of vaccination for Canadians travelling internationally.

Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino says Ottawa is working with the provinces to develop consistent credentials, which would likely be digital.

He also says the government is also working with other countries to recognize the credentials issued in Canada.

Ottawa plans to have this in place by this fall.

Currently, travellers coming into Canada have been using the ArriveCAN app to upload their vaccination status.

Since mid-July, Canadians who are fully vaccinated can avoid quarantine upon their return to the country by using the app.
