The identity of a man, known as John Doe for 26 years, has been confirmed, according to the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.
“John Doe” was found dead after being hit by a train in the city’s west end on July 28th, 1995. Police later determined the incident was a suicide.
For years, Doe’s body has been lying in the Riverside Cemetery, with little to no information known about who he was, and why he ended his life.
While his name is not being released yet, a spokesperson says more details on the case, and what led to his identification, are expected to be released in the near future.
Those involved with the case say they are happy to finally be able to have closure two and a half decades later.
