Costs of livestock feed, water, can now be included in AgriRecovery submissions

Western Canadian farmers affected by drought and wildfires, will now be able to include the cost of obtaining livestock feed, transportation, and water in their AgriRecovery submissions.

AgriRecovery is a federal and provincial business risk management program aimed at helping farmers in extraordinary climate situations. The program operates on a 60-40 basis with Ottawa covering the majority.

The move comes in the middle of an extreme shortage of feed due to the drought, with many farmers already selling cattle.

The federal government also added more rural municipalities in the area covered by the Livestock Tax Deferral.
