A death investigation is underway after a 56-year-old Regina man died when he was hit by a train.

Regina Police say they received a report from CP Rail early Sunday morning that an eastbound train had hit a pedestrian. Police went to where the train was stopped just east of the Albert Street overpass where the man was found and declared dead at the scene.

The man has been identified, but his name is not being released.
